Planting and Care Information
Planting and Care Information
Planting Instructions: Plant with approximately 10–15 cm of soil above the bulb. Incorporate organic matter into the soil and add grit where drainage needs improving. Martagons are best planted where they can remain undisturbed.
Soil and Drainage Requirements: Clay, Loam, Sandy soil; moist but well drained; Acid to Neutral
Preferred Location: Full sun or Partial shade; Sheltered
Care: Maintain moisture during active growth but avoid waterlogging. Remove seedheads after flowering if seed is not required, then allow stems and foliage to die back naturally. Avoid unnecessary disturbance: Martagons can take a year to recover from transplanting but may thrive for decades once established.
