Exporting Bulbs Internationally

Jacques Amand Wholesale has supplied flower bulbs and specialist plants to customers around the world for many years.

Exporting living plant material requires careful planning and, depending on the destination, additional documentation to satisfy plant health and customs requirements.

As import requirements vary between countries and are subject to change, customers should always check the latest legislation, import restrictions and permit requirements with the relevant authorities in their own country before placing an order.

Where required, we can arrange the appropriate export documentation before your order is dispatched.

We supply customers worldwide, subject to current import regulations.

Why Are Export Documents Needed?

Plants, bulbs and other living material can carry pests and diseases that are not present in every country.

Many governments therefore require imported plants to be inspected before they enter the country.

These inspections help protect agriculture, horticulture and native ecosystems.

The documentation required varies depending on the destination country and the species being exported.

Regulations and charges can change without notice. Information on this page is general guidance only and should be checked against the current requirements of the destination authority before ordering

 

Phytosanitary Certificates

Some countries require a phytosanitary certificate before plant material may be imported.

A phytosanitary certificate is an official document issued by the relevant UK plant health authority following inspection of the goods.

Where requested or required, Jacques Amand Wholesale can arrange phytosanitary certification for export orders.

The cost of the official phytosanitary certificate, together with our administration charge for arranging the inspection and documentation, will be added to your order.

Where required for deliveries to Northern Ireland, the same charges apply.

 

CITES Permits

Some plant species are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Where CITES documentation is required, Jacques Amand Wholesale can arrange the necessary permits prior to dispatch.

The cost of obtaining CITES documentation, together with our administration charge for arranging the application and associated paperwork, will be added to your order.

Please note that obtaining CITES permits may increase processing times.

 

Northern Ireland

Deliveries to Northern Ireland must comply with current plant health regulations.

Where required, Jacques Amand Wholesale will arrange phytosanitary certificates which are charged at cost, subject to our current minimum administration charge.

Where applicable, CITES permits will be arranged and will charged at cost plus an administrative fee, subject to our current minimum administration charge.

Import requirements may change from time to time. Customers remain responsible for ensuring they comply with the current import requirements applicable in Northern Ireland before placing an order.

 

European Union Destinations 

Import requirements vary between European Union member states and may include phytosanitary certificates, import permits, customs documentation or restrictions on particular plant species.

Where required, Jacques Amand Wholesale will arrange UK export documentation, including phytosanitary certificates and CITES permits where applicable. Any applicable charges will be confirmed before your order is processed.

Customers remain responsible for checking and complying with the current import requirements of the destination country before placing an order.

 

Import Requirements

Import requirements vary from country to country and may change without notice.

Customers are responsible for checking the current legislation, import restrictions, permit requirements and customs procedures with the relevant authorities in their own country before placing an order.

Depending on the destination, additional documentation or procedures may be required before goods can be imported.

Where appropriate, Jacques Amand Wholesale can arrange:

• phytosanitary certificates;
• CITES documentation (where applicable); and
• cleaning or preparation of goods where required by the importing country.

Official fees and our administration charges will apply where these services are required.

 

Export Restrictions

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every product can be exported to every destination.

Restrictions may apply because of:

• plant health regulations;
• protected species legislation;
• customs restrictions;
• local import controls.

If we identify a restriction affecting your order, we will contact you before dispatch to discuss the available options.

 

Countries with Additional Requirements

Every country has its own import regulations.

Some destinations require:

• import permits;
• phytosanitary inspections;
• customs declarations;
• CITES permits;
• additional laboratory testing; or
• pre-notification before arrival.

Some countries also prohibit the import of certain plant species altogether.

Export Charges

International orders may incur charges in addition to standard carriage.

Where applicable, the following services are charged:

• Official phytosanitary certificate fees, plus our administration charge.
• CITES permit fees, plus our administration charge.
• Cleaning or preparation charges where required by the importing country.
• Any additional charges imposed by the relevant authorities or courier in connection with the export.

Current charges are available from our team before your order is confirmed. 

 

Export Timescales

Preparing export documentation and official inspections may increase processing and dispatch times.

We recommend allowing extra time for:

• official inspections;
• permit applications;
• customs procedures;
• destination country clearance.

Whilst every effort is made to meet requested dispatch dates, export orders cannot be guaranteed by a specific date.

 

Customer Responsibilities

To help us process your order efficiently, customers may be asked to provide:

• VAT registration number (where applicable);
• EORI number;
• import permit;
• tax identification number; and
• any destination-specific information required by local authorities.

Failure to provide the necessary documentation may delay dispatch.

Customers remain responsible for checking and complying with the current import requirements of the destination country before placing an order, including obtaining any import permits or approvals required by the destination authorities. Import regulations may change without notice, and whilst Jacques Amand Wholesale will arrange the agreed UK export documentation where required, we cannot guarantee that goods will be admitted or cleared by the destination country's customs or plant health authorities.
