Commonly called the Regal Lily this magnificent species produces large, intensely fragrant, trumpet-shaped white flowers, flushed purple on the outside with a golden-yellow throat. The flowers are carried in clusters on tall, upright stems clothed with narrow green leaves. A classic and reliable lily for adding height, fragrance and elegance to summer borders, and excellent for cutting.

Planting Instructions: Plant in autumn or spring in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with leaf mould or well-rotted organic matter. 15 cm between lily bulbs and may need staking. L. regale is particularly adaptable and performs well in ordinary garden soil provided it receives sufficient sun and good drainage.
Soil and Drainage Requirements: Chalk, Clay, Loam, Sandy soil; moist but well-drained; Acid, Neutral, Alkaline
Preferred Location: Full sun; East, South, West or North facing; Sheltered
Care: Keep adequately moist during growth but avoid waterlogging. Deadhead faded flowers, leaving the foliage and stems to die back naturally before removing them. Tall stems may require staking in windy conditions. Watch for lily beetle, aphids, slugs and snails.
