An elegant Martagon lily producing numerous nodding, Turk's-cap flowers with strongly recurved petals. The soft mauve-pink to rosy-pink blooms are decorated with darker purple-red speckles towards the centre and are carried in abundance on upright stems. Its naturalistic appearance makes it particularly attractive in lightly shaded borders and woodland-style planting.

Planting and Care Information

Planting Instructions: Plant bulbs approximately 15–20 cm deep and around 20 cm apart in humus-rich, well-drained soil. Martagon lilies can take time to establish and are best planted where they can remain undisturbed.

Soil and Drainage Requirements: Chalk, Loam, Sandy soil; moist but well drained; Acid, Neutral, Alkaline

Preferred Location: Full sun or Partial shade; Sheltered

Care: Keep adequately moist during active growth but avoid waterlogging. Mulch with organic matter and feed as growth begins in spring. Allow stems and foliage to die back naturally after flowering. Once established, avoid unnecessary lifting or disturbance; Martagon lilies may take a season or more to settle before flowering at their best.
