Planting and Care Information
Planting and Care Information
Planting Instructions: Plant in well-drained soil enriched with leaf mould or well-rotted organic matter. Martagon lilies are particularly effective among shrubs or in lightly shaded borders. They can take time to establish, so choose the planting position carefully and avoid unnecessary disturbance once established.
Soil and Drainage Requirements: Clay, Loam, Sandy soil; moist but well drained; Neutral to Alkaline
Preferred Location: Full sun or Partial shade; East, South or West facing; Sheltered
Care: Remove seedheads unless seed is required, then allow foliage to die back naturally before cutting down the stems. Established bulbs are best left undisturbed. Offsets can be separated after the foliage has died down. Monitor for lily beetle, aphids, slugs and snails.
