Planting and Care Information

Planting Instructions: The bulb should be potted soon after receipt in a good loam based compost (e.g. John Innes No. 2) to which coarse sand or grit has been added to ensure an open, free draining mixture. A well crocked pot, approx. 5cm wider than the bulb's diameter may be used. Position the bulb so that the top half shows above the compost with the roots well spread in the soil below. The pot should then be set in a warm place, ideally with bottom heat of 15-18 degrees celcius, and very little water until growth starts. When growing well, transfer to a cooler, well lit position, and water more freely.

Soil and Drainage Requirements:

Preferred Location:

Care: Every fortnight give a high potash liquid feed. Dead head after flowering but continue to feed and water until the leaves yellow and die. When dormant in late autumn to early winter, stop watering. Top dress 2-3cm of soil before starting the bulb into growth again. If necessary, re-pot every 3 to 4 years.
