Flower spikes up to 14″ long. Native to the Himalayas in India, Nepal and Bhutan these uncommon but useful plants can be treated like Cannas for summer bedding and in some areas are hardy. Plant in a rich soil, water and feed with a liquid manure copiously. If planted in pots or tubs, water several times daily. The foliage is attractive and many of the species are sweetly scented. If planted outdoors grow in a humus rich well-drained soil in a sunny sheltered position.
