(Asparagaceae)
Superb garden plants, ideal in shade and much used in landscaping. Plant out in Spring, with the new shoots just level or slightly showing above the prepared soil. Water well. Hostas need a moist, fertile soil with some shade and shelter from wind. Feed regularly. Protect pot grown plants from frost. Remove protection from crown before new growth appears. Mulch in summer to conserve moisture and do not allow to dry out. Water at roots avoiding the leaves.
